Ισχυρή σεισμική δόνηση σημειώθηκε το μεσημέρι της Τετάρτης (ώρα Ελλάδος) στην Ιαπωνία.

Σύμφωνα με το πρακτορείο Reuters, το αμερικανικό Γεωλογικό Ινστιτούτο μέτρησε τον σεισμό στα 6,3 Ρίχτερ, ενώ το Ευρωμεσογειακό Ινστιτούτο κάνει λόγο για δόνηση της τάξης των 5,8 Ρίχτερ.

Mέχρι στιγμής δεν έχουν αναφερθεί υλικές ζημιές ή τραυματισμοί ούτε υπάρχει κάποια προειδοποίηση για τσουνάμι.
