Οι συγκρούσεις που μαίνονται και τα επεισόδια βίας που συγκλονίζουν το Ιράκ στοίχισαν την ζωή σε τουλάχιστον 1.375 ανθρώπους περιλαμβανομένων 790 αμάχων το μήνα Ιανουάριο, ανακοίνωσε την Κυριακή ο Οργανισμός Ηνωμένων Εθνών.

Στους νεκρούς περιλαμβάνονται 585 στελέχη του ιρακινού στρατού που καταβάλλει μεγάλες προσπάθειες να ανασυγκροτηθεί αφότου το Ισλαμικό Κράτος κατέλαβε τεράστιες εκτάσεις της χώρας πέρυσι.

Τουλάχιστον 2.240 άμαχοι και στρατιώτες τραυματίστηκαν την ίδια περίοδο, επισήμανε η Αποστολή Βοήθειας του ΟΗΕ για το Ιράκ σε ένα δελτίο τύπου που εξέδωσε.
