O γηραιός γερουσιαστής του Βερμόντ και εκ των αντιπάλων του Τζο Μπάιντεν στην διεκδίκηση του χρίσματος των Δημοκρατικών, είναι βέβαιο ότι έκλεψε την παράσταση στην ορκωμοσία του 46ου προέδρου των ΗΠΑ.

Η εμφάνισή του Μπέρνι Σάντερς με πλήρη, χειμωνιάτικη εξάρτυση και ριγέ γαντάκια, στον αντίποδα των επίσημων κουστουμιών όλων των άλλων, σάρωσε αστραπιαία τα κοινωνικά δίκτυα, με τη μορφή κάθε πιθανού και απίθανου meme.
